Michelle Holding is a musician, writer and dance caller. Born in Lancashire in 1982, writing and music have always been a huge part of Michelle's life.

Both her writing and stage presence have been described as gently humorous, with a tinge of Northern grit. She has been complimented on her clarity when addressing difficult subjects, something she does not shy away from. She is a passionate believer in equality, in the power of music, movement and writing for health, and also of finding the beauty in everyday interactions and situations.

Michelle calls dances for ceilidhs, something which she has established quite a following for, through her welcoming, gender free calling style and careful choice of dances for the varied audiences she meets. She also confesses publicly to being a Morris dancer.

Musically, Michelle continues to work in her duo with Bonz, now in their thirteenth year! The combination of English and American folk songs with close harmonies, the occasional surprise thrown in and their relaxed stage presence are key ingredients to their continued success.

Michelle performed and studied with esteemed banjo player Rob Murch for 3 years, she now flies the flag for classic fingerstyle banjo whenever possible, bringing pieces from this exhilarating classic banjo style into the public domain when she performs!

Currently, she is also working on literary projects, building on her blog project at http://pinktwill.blogspot.com which incorporated both prose and poetry. After something of a hiatus due to a variety of craft projects, she now plans to put more of her work into the world in 2023.

She currently lives in Manchester UK, in a contented household with a number of tame banjos and guitars.

Michelle no longer performs or calls ceilidhs due to her deteriorating health.
